New WWE Champion Crowned On Raw (SPOILERS)

Looking to boost sagging ratings on Monday Night Raw, WWE hot-shotted a major title match on this week's episode. Originally set for the Extreme Rules PPV in a couple of weeks, the Almighty Bobby Lashley put his WWE Championship on the line against 14 time world champ and current Raw Tag Team Champion, Randy Orton. But neither of those men stood tall as champion when Raw went off the air.

Instead, Big E is your new WWE Champion. Cashing in his Money In The Bank contract against Lashley, who was victorious in his scheduled defence against Orton, E won the championship in short order with his Big Ending finisher. Fireworks went off and the New Day- Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods- came out to celebrate with their buddy to close the episode on a high note.

Thoughts: Great for Big E. He's long been marked as a future champion, and it's great to see them pull the trigger. He's certainly talented enough to live up to the promise of being a main event star.

They all but advertised this was happening with a pre-Raw Tweet from E saying he intended to cash in. Between that and the booking of Lashley vs. Orton for the title in the first place, it seems that WWE are doing everything they can to improve the ratings and product quickly, as AEW Dynamite beat Raw in the key 18-49 demo last week. That said, I hope they persist with E as the top guy instead of just quickly shuffling the belt around to pop a rating.
