Edge To Return in 2021 Royal Rumble Match

Edge hasn't been seen on WWE television since "The Greatest Match Ever" with Randy Orton at Backlash. In that match, he tore his tricep- a significant setback after making his return after 9 years away in the 2020 Royal Rumble. This past Monday on Raw, the Rated R Superstar made an unannounced appearance to cut a promo. In an impassioned speech, Edge talked about the journey he's been on, recalling that 10 years ago, he was World Heavyweight Champion, but within the space of a week, he went from defending the title successfully at Wrestlemania to being forced to give up the championship and retire due to his neck injuries.

He recalled his mother telling him to "just do it" when he shared his dream of being a wrestler with her. That was the fuel that ignited his return in last year's Royal Rumble. And with that, he announced his entry in this year's Royal Rumble. He quoted Henry Ford- "whether you think you can or you can't, you're right". He believes he can.

Edge addressed the complaint on Instagram that he announced his Rumble return rather than leaving it as a surprise. He essentially says it won't be the same as last year- without fans in the Thunderdome. Either way, the presence of Edge in the Rumble Match is a great hook for this weekend's PPV.
