Could We See Trish Stratus vs. Sasha Banks?
According to the 2013 WWE Hall of Famer, that dream match-up is something she would "love". In an appearance this week on WWE's morning talk show The Bump, Trish Stratus said the following on the much-anticipated potential clash between the two superstars:
“I love and respect Sasha so much, I love her in-ring work ... would I love to taste that? Yes, I would. Look, here’s the thing, people are buzzing about Sasha and I, we’ve basically had a five minute interaction at Royal Rumble. That was what began the buzz, that’s been two years straight of people just buzzing about it and dreaming and hoping. As a wrestling fan do I think this is intriguing? Absolutely. I think it’s a pretty awesome idea, to be honest. That’s all I’ve got to say about that guys.”
Trish and Sasha have faced each other in the ring on one prior occasion, during the 2018 Women's Royal Rumble. They had a memorable exchange where Stratus mimicked the signature pose of The Legit Boss, and Banks would get revenge by eliminating the legend. Ever since then, speculation has run wild about one of the greats in women's wrestling facing one of the greatest today, one on one.
For her part, Sasha Banks seems more than open to the idea, speaking recently about who she would like to wrestle if a second all-women's Evolution PPV took place:
“If I could choose anybody? Trish Stratus. I would lose my mind. But honestly, there are so many people. I would like to have a match with anybody I have not had a match with before. Trish Stratus was the top of the women’s division of her time. She was the best."
Trish Stratus last wrestled at Summerslam 2019, in a highly-acclaimed singles match against Charlotte Flair. She suggested that the showdown with The Queen would be her last, but the nature of pro wrestling retirements and these recent comments suggest that the blonde bombshell from Toronto might not be done with the squared circle just yet.
